DAY 1: AIRPORT PICK UP AND TRANSFER TO YOUR HOTEL
Welcome to Kigali, Rwanda. We will be waiting for you at the arrival hall at 22:40pm at Kigali International Airport introduce you to your driver guide, provide you with a detailed briefing before we head off to your Hotel for an overnight.
Dinner and Overnight at Choice of accommodation at Onomo Hotel, Ubumwe Grande Hotel Or Marriott Hotel.
DAY 2: TRANSFER BUKAVU VIA NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
After your breakfast, embark on your vehicle for a 6 hour scenic transfer to Bukavu, DR Congo en route lunch as you proceed to Bukavu border through Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will reach to the boarder and on arrival, you will be met and assisted by our representative in Congo, for Visa and later embark on your vehicle for your transfer to your accommodation. Check in for a refreshen up and relax with the Hotel facilities.

DAY 3: RARE EASTERN LOWLAND GORILLAS TRANSFER TO RWANDA
After your breakfast, you will be taken to the park headquarters where you will be educated on the trek, Lowland Gorilla behaviour and assigned in to groups of suitable fitness. The trek can take between 2-6 hours depending on the movements of the Gorillas and it is another unique and privileged experience to trek and meet at close quarters of the rare lowland Gorillas in Kahuzi- Biega. Not so long ago there were hundreds of thousands Eastern Lowland Gorillas, however through war, vegetation loss and disease the population of the world’s largest Gorilla is in super-fast decline and there are thought to be Only 25,000 left today and considered critically endangered because of that rate of decline and its causes. That makes today’s trek all the more important. If strong eco-tourism can be established this will assist local Communities see and receive the benefits which will help Kahuzi-Biega
National Park stabilize then grow its populations. Eastern Lowland Gorillas are thought to have separated from Mountain Gorillas around 200,000
years ago. Whilst similar the Eastern Lowland Gorilla is even larger with the biggest males weighing up to 250 kilograms. They are also not as shy as the Mountain Gorillas who you should not look in the eye too long or they perceive a threat. The Eastern’s don’t mind if you look at them, I guess they don’t feel very threatened as they are twice our mass.
On this day once you locate the Lowland Gorillas you get to spend an hour with the world’s largest primate and his adorable family before we take you across the border which is only 1 hour away back to Rwanda. You will be transferred to your accommodation for a freshen up and relaxation.

DAY 4: CHIMPANZEE TREK AND TRANSFER TO KIGALI.
Wake up very early in the morning at 04:00am; take a cup of tea or coffee at 04:30am. Breakfast will be packed and eaten on the way to the starting point of your Chimpanzee Trek by 5am. At the park offices you will be briefed about the chimpanzees and the other primates in this forest and after entering into the forest searching for the shy chimpanzees and you may have a chance to see other primates on your way. There are around 500 chimpanzees in this region of Rwanda making it an extremely important region for conservation of this rapidly declining relative. Depending on the trackers information you may get on of the larger troops of around 60 or a more intimate troop of 20-30. Either way chimpanzees are usually much more active than the Mountain Gorillas and are truly amazing to watch and try keep up with. Sharing 98.7% of human DNA you will be astounded by their
intelligence, confidence and traits. After the trek we will take a packed lunch and proceed to the Canopy walk which is about a 20 minute trek from the park headquarters. The suspension footway gives you a super interesting perspective of the rainforest canopy. Later drive back to your Hotel for Dinner and overnight Emeraude Kivu Resort or Nyungwe House.
DAY 5: TRANSFER TO KIGALI VIA CULTURAL CENTRE OF BUTARE – AIRPORT
After breakfast at your Hotel, embark to your 4×4 vehicle and drive to Kigali. First stop is a 2.5-hour drive en route to the traditional power and cultural Centre of Rwanda in Butare. First stop is the Kings Palace which offers a detailed look into the Rwandan traditional seat of their monarchy. It is an impressive re-enactment display, restored to its 19th century state and made entirely with traditional materials. Many facts and skills and cultural uniqueness are learnt at this very interesting site. Right nearby in 40 minutes is Ethnographic Museum of Rwanda which displays ancient and historic artifacts from throughout Rwandan history. We will take lunch in Butare before transferring a further 2.5 hours to Kigali for fare well dinner and Airport
