The main airport in Rwanda is Kigali International Airport. It is located 10 km East of the centre.
Kigali currently receives direct flights from Nairobi, Entebbe, Bujumbura, Addis Ababa, Kilimanjaro, Brazaville, Douala, Libreville, Mombasa, Mwanza, Brussels, Amsterdam, Dar es Salaam, Istanbul, Johannesburg, Juba, Lagos, Lusaka, Doha and Dubai.
It is also possible to take a bus from neighboring countries.
The larger part of Uganda has a tropical climate which varies according to altitude. During the year the hottest months are from December to February when the temperature reaches 29 degrees Celsius. The rainy seasons are from April to May and October to November, with the wettest month being April, but it can rain at any time of the day, especially in forest ecosystems.
Despite Uganda’s location to the equator temperatures in some parts of the country can be quite cool owing to the high altitude. The mountain areas become much cooler and the top of Mount Elgon and the Rwenzoris are often covered with snow. Other parts of Uganda are much warmer.
The Republic of the Congo uses the Central African Franc (CFA) as its currency but safari travellers are unlikely to encounter it. Brazzaville’s international hotels and the country’s few wilderness lodges accept US dollars, GB pounds and Euros.
The rates for our recommended accommodation include all meals and drinks (with the exception of premium wines and champagne, and premium liqueurs and spirits) as well as a laundry service (underwear is not washed due to local customs). Any extra payments or gratuities can be settled in the above foreign currencies – in cash – on check-out.
