The 5 Days Rwanda gorilla and wildlife safari takes you to the Land of a thousand hills with a first activity being game watching in the Akagera National Park that was named after River Kagera which feeds several Lakes (Lake Gishanju, Lake Ihema, Lake Mihindi, Lake Rwanyakizinga and Lake Shakani) within and around the park
Day 1: Arrival and hotel transfer
Upon your arrival at Kigali international airport our representative driver / guide will be waiting to welcome you, brief you on our 5 Days Rwanda Gorilla Safari itinerary and transfer you to your lodge/hotel for dinner and overnight stay
Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park
Drive to Akagera National Park after breakfast. The park borders Tanzania and is dominated by a maze of swamps and lakes that follow the meandering course of the Akagera River. Check into Akagera Game Lodge upon arrival. After lunch, enter the national park for an afternoon game drive, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at the Akagera game lodge.
Day 3: Game drives and transfer to volcanoes national park
After an early breakfast, head for the game drive in the National park. Akagera is home to a variety of game, it’s an exciting reserve and there are plenty of animals around and the birdlife is quite exceptional. Mammals include a healthy population of Elephant and Buffalo, plus 11 species of antelope including Impala, Common Duiker, Defassa Waterbuck, Bushbuck, Oribi, Tsessebe, Cape Eland and the rare Sable Antelope. Hippos are present in impressive numbers in the lakes and rivers and Zebra and Giraffe still roam the more open acacia dotted plains.
Afternoon, drive to Musanze the main base town for Gorilla tracking. The drive is through beautiful rolling hills on a comfortable paved road enclosed by steep and green terraced hills along eastern Rwanda. The road winds endlessly in a countless number of twists and turns, and the common storm clouds lend a raggedly romantic panorama to this region.
Day 4: Volcanoes National Park – Mountain Gorillas
Report to the park headquarters for the gorilla trekking procedures and a briefing on gorilla etiquette from the guides of Volcanoes National Park after your breakfast. You’ll be placed with a certain troop of gorillas. The length of your walk will depend on the gorilla group you are allocated to.
You will spend an hour with your designated gorilla group after finding them, followed by a return trip down the volcano’s slopes. Eat a meal at the inn. Enjoy the scenic ride back to Kigali in the afternoon.
Day 5: Departure
Have breakfast then enjoy Kigali city tour including Gisozi genocide memorial site, have lunch and proceed to the Airport for your flight.
