Day 1: Arrival
Upon arrival in Kigali at Kigali International Airport in Kigali City, Rwanda, you will be welcomed by our company representative together with the guide. After a short safari briefing, you will be transferred to your hotel in Kigali city, depending on the time of your arrival, you will enjoy a brief Kigali city tour visiting sites such as Kimironko Market and the Kigali Genocide memorial sites. Then transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Akagera national park and Ihema Boat Cruise.
Have breakfast, meet your guide and transfer to Akagera national park a home to the big 5 and the only savannah park in Rwanda. Akagera national park is a home several wildlife species such as lions, leopards, elephants, cape buffaloes, rhinos, oribis, Topis, bushbucks, impalas, roan antelope, and cape elands among others.Arrive in the park in time for lunch at your safari lodge and later embark on the afternoon boat cruise on the beautiful Lake Ihema, during the boat cruise you will be able to see various game species such as hippos, crocodiles and many bird species residing on the shores of the lake such as the remarkable shoebill, African Wattled plover, Giant Kingfisher, water thick-knee among others. After the sunset, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3:Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, you will move to the park headquarters where your guide will complete the essential official procedure of briefing. You will then meet your ranger guide for a briefing about gorilla tracking in the volcanoes national park. This exercise is to prepare you for the great life time experience of the natural beauty which starts with the first phase of tracking in the tropical forest that will provide comfort to fill the natural cool breeze of the park. After your gorilla trek activity, return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 4:Hike to Dian Fossey Grave Site
Have a heavy breakfast and head back to Volcanoes National Park where you will go on a guided hike to Dian Fossey’s gravesite. While there, you can place follows on the tomb, where she was buried. Dian Fossey was murdered in 1985 in her camp cabin in a remote location in Rwanda. She was buried next to her beloved gorilla friend, ‘Digit’, and 20 other gorillas. You will also visit Karisoke Research Centre where Dian carried out most of her research on Mountain Gorilla groups. Later head back your lodge for your dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5:Departure to Kigali
Wake up in the morning after breakfast and then drive to Kigali to catch your flight back home, which marks the end of your safari.
